Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) is a small airport located about 10 miles north of downtown Santa Barbara. Rental cars can easily be picked up on-site (no shuttle required) or you can hail a taxi downtown for $30-$40.
The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a large international airport located about 1.5 hours south of Santa Barbara. All major airlines fly into LAX and you might be able to find more affordable flights. If you fly into LAX, you can take the Santa Barbara airbus for $50 each way, which is a good option and drops you off about 1 mile from the hotels. From there, you can walk or take a taxi to the hotel. Alternatively, you can rent a car and drive up to Santa Barbara - we recommend taking the Pacific Coast Highway and definitely avoiding the LA rush hour.
Lastly, the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak train drops you off in downtown Santa Barbara, and is a fun and easy way to travel. The train hugs the coastline for a good portion of the ride and is a great way to beat the LA traffic. The train departs from downtown Los Angeles, and we can provide information on the best way to get there from LAX if you decide to go this route!
